UNITY, LOVE, AND RESPECT

REPRESENTING 1975 WITH

A message from our chapter

Welcome to our website!

We thank you for taking the time to visit this page, and we invite you learn more about our organization.

Since 1975, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. has provided a unique and all-encompassing support system to sisters from a wide variety of backgrounds representing over 120 different nationalities.

Academic initiatives, innovative programming, commitment to service, and, above all else, a genuine sisterhood are at the heart of what we do and who we are.

The Intelligent and Eloquent Gamma Beta Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc.at Vanderbilt University endeavors to carry on in this vein, engaging the surrounding community, both on campus and off, and empowering its women.

Since 2001, our chapter has both broken molds and bridged gaps. LTA is the first Greek-lettered organization on Vanderbilt's campus — and the first sorority in the state of Tennessee — to provide women an opportunity for sisterhood outside of historically white and historically black sororities.

Most importantly, LTA at Vanderbilt and beyond has played a pivotal role in the lives of many dynamic women of diverse cultures with diverse dreams, brought together by Unity, Love, and Respect.

Again, feel free to browse this site to get to know us better, and don't hesitate to drop us a line on our Contact page, as we'd like to get to know you better, too!

PHILANTHROPY

LTA's national philanthropy, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, offers treatment to children with catastrophic diseases and produces groundbreaking pediatric research. Our chapter also has a local philanthropy — Magdalene House and Thistle Farms, a social enterprise that empowers women who have overcome lives of prostitution and drug abuse.

SERVICE

LTA was founded to empower Latina and minority women through acts of service and community engagement. This past year, our chapter has volunteered with the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition and Feed The Children and has hosted numerous educational and advocacy events on Vanderbilt's campus.

SISTERHOOD

Though founded in response to the growing Latina population on college campuses, LTA welcomes and embraces women of all backgrounds — as such, one of our most beloved mottos is "Latin by tradition, not by definition." Moreover, our sisterhood believes in upholding The Universal Woman by living out, to the fullest extent, the sorority's three principles: Unity, Love, and Respect.
